Actual Conversation

ME: Could you help me put risers on my bed?
PAUL: Sure... Tomorrow? Could we do it tomorrow, does it have to be today?
ME: pouty That's what I thought.
PAUL: Could I at least finish eating first?
ME: Ok. Goes into bedroom. Clanking sounds.
PAUL: Just wait! I'll help!
ME: I'm just changing. clank. thump. pant.
PAUL: What are you doing in there?
ME: I'm just changing my pants.
PAUL: Did you just take your hammer and maglite in there with you?
ME: Grunt. smash. Crap. Ok. Nothing's going on, don't worry!
PAUL: Gets up to come make sure I'm not dead You okay?
ME: I'm Done! Come look at the freakish bed!
PAUL: What the did you do??

My bed, which used to be a very low 5 inches or so off the ground, now has my bed risers on. It is now like, waist high. MUAHAHAHA. I am not super positive how stable it is, but it seems okay.

Douglas Adams Is in my Brain

I'm back in the college town after a sojourn in the tourist trap, and life is dull. Nice, but dull.

Paul: "I've been playing Metal Gear for almost two days."
Me: "It has been two days. 42 hours is two days."
Paul: "What? No, two days is 48."
Me: "No it's.. it is 48. What's 42? Why did I think 42?"
Paul: "I don't kn--"
Me: "Oh wait, 42 is the answer to the Universe. Nevermind."
Paul: *stares quizzically*

Days consist of clawing my way toward employment, evenings I hang out with Paul. As he plays Metal Gear Online, I surf the internet. Or we read. It's like we're already a stodgy geriatric couple. A technologically adept geriatric couple.

The Moral of the Story...?

When I think about the conversations I have been having recently, it becomes all the more apparent that I am officially not only in a different life stage but also preparing for transition into yet another one. I'm finishing college soon, and looking toward what comes next. Friends and I have talked in all seriousness about the state of the economy. Stories about weddings are personal and in not only present but also past tenses. Life decisions become more imminent.
Right now I am coming to terms with the idea of applying for work in Japan. Hopefully I can get a job there. The demand for teaching jobs is supposedly high but one can't always rely on hearsay to be reliable. There are a couple issues with moving to Japan that I will probably expand on later. But there are other implications. Moving to Japan, an entirely different country. With Paul. Even if we are there with two good friends (one is definitely looking to go, the other is more tentative.) it has serious connotations. I'm not afraid of serious connotations, but it does put me in the early stages of The Rest Of My Life. It would be exciting, if it wasn't so serious.
Okay, it is kindof exciting.

Di-a-grams are Di-a-awesome

In regard to my new roommate who wants to move the living room furniture, which is fine by me, but who has very mistaken TV placement ideas.

Paul: So it sounds like she wants to feel like she has some influence in the apartment.
Me: Right, and Sarah and I want to feel that we still have complete and utter control.
Paul: So there is going to have to be some bending with you guys.
Me: Yeah, she will have to do something about that.

Therefore, I have began making a diagram of the living room. Which distracts from the one I am making of my bedroom which was what initially distracted me from my planning for the plant stand I want to make. I love diagrams and planning and organization. It rocks my world.

Feed the Flame

Crystal: Okay, so I think dinner's almost ready, so I'm going to go.
Sonya: Dinner is for those who can't feed themselves with the fire of their
ideals!
Crystal: ... Yeah, but I'm hungry.
Sonya: Alright. I made that up just now though, so I was pretty
proud.
Crystal: I can tell.
